Renew Your Mind: A Reflection on Romans 12:2

Have you ever felt stuck in the same negative thought patterns, unsure of how to break free? The world constantly pulls us in different directions—telling us what to value, how to think, and who to be. But what if there’s a better way? Romans 12:2 offers a path to true transformation, and at 1 Page A Day, we believe it starts with small, daily steps in God’s Word.

“Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is—his good, pleasing and perfect will.”

– Romans 12:2 (NIV)

Reflection & Application

This verse is a call to live differently—to shift our focus from the world’s standards to God’s truth. It doesn’t say transformation happens instantly; instead, it’s a process of renewing the mind daily. For one of our team members, this scripture became real during a season of uncertainty. Anxiety and fear clouded their decisions, but through reading 1 Page A Day of Scripture, they began to see things differently.

Renewing the mind means replacing lies with truth, fear with faith, and worldly desires with God’s purpose. The more we meditate on His Word, the more our thoughts align with His will. Instead of being swayed by culture or emotions, we begin to discern what is truly good and God-pleasing.

For those struggling with addiction, self-doubt, or simply feeling lost, this verse reminds us that transformation isn’t about trying harder—it’s about surrendering to God and letting His Word reshape us from the inside out.

Closing Encouragement

Where do you need renewal in your life? What thought patterns do you need to surrender? Start small—1 Page A Day could be the beginning of a transformed mind and a renewed heart. Let’s walk this journey together.

2024 Reflection

Rehab Baptisms

Dear Friends of 1 Page a Day,

As we reflect on 2024, we want to extend our heartfelt gratitude for your continued passion in sharing the Good News to the struggling and the lost in rehab centers across Ensenada, Mexico. Your dedication has made an incredible impact, and we are excited to share the highlights.

Thank You for Your Support!

Your prayers have been our backbone— igniting, encouraging, and protecting the 1PAD team while preparing the hearts of inmates who are desperately seeking freedom. The struggle against the bondage of sin is stronger than the locked doors behind which they live. But together, we are making strides in bringing hope where it is most needed.

Your generous financial contributions have empowered our team of 5-6 committed teachers who tirelessly dedicate four days a week to reach out to 30 rehab centers. This connection, teaching, and engagement are not just activities; they are life-changing encounters with Jesus. Transformation is blossoming as inmates begin to trust in the love of God through our dedicated teachers who embody the hands and feet of Jesus.

2024 Highlights

Our outreach encompasses 30 rehab centers with an average attendance of 25 individuals per center—bringing 750 souls each week to hear the message of hope! These teachings foster not just awareness of Jesus but also guidelines on how to cultivate a personal relationship with Him.

Our evangelism & discipleship program comprises three 15-week courses each year, culminating in graduation ceremonies where we witness changed lives and growing faith. The work of the Holy Spirit and the Power of God’s Word are clearly on display.

In 2024, we were able to offer baptisms as part of the graduation ceremony. 50 inmates were baptized and proudly declared their faith publicly!

Our commitment to ongoing training for our team and evaluation of the centers continues, ensuring we maintain high standards of guidance and support.

We are excited about our new partnership with Jehovah Samma, offering extended Biblical training to inmates post-release, equipping them for their journeys ahead in faith.

Joy from Ensenada

We are delighted to share a testimonial from Pamela Sanchez, an inmate at Mar A.C. rehab center:

“I’m grateful to the team because they teach us how we can connect with God through the weekly study. I’ve learned that God’s love and grace are immensely powerful. 1 Page a Day has played a vital role in my rehabilitation and that of others.”

Partner with Us to Keep the Ministry Moving Forward

This year has been marked by incredible opportunities for outreach and growth, but also by significant challenges that have tested our faith and resolve. Transportation obstacles, escalating fuel costs, a hit-and-run incident, health crises, and episodes of spiritual warfare on many fronts are ongoing realities. The need for dependable vehicles has never been more crucial—particularly to reach remote rehab locations.

We invite you to partner with us in overcoming these barriers. Your contributions are essential in supporting our team and delivering hope to those in need. Every gift—no matter the size—has a
direct impact, ensuring the continuation of our vital mission.

Together, we can rise above challenges and keep advancing in sharing God’s love and provision with those who need it most. Thank you for considering how you can help. May God bless you abundantly for your generosity and support!

2023 Highlights

TRANSFORMING THE LIVES OF ADDICTS THROUGH THE POWER OF THE HOLY SPIRIT AND GOD’S WORD.

Romans 10:14-15. How can they believe in Him if they have never heard about Him? And how can they hear about Him unless someone tells them? And how will anyone go and tell them without being sent?

We wish you a Merry Christmas from the entire 1 Page a Day team!

Throughout 2023, we saw God’s hand of blessing on 1 Page a Day (1PAD). This year is highlighted by intentionality– within our programs, our relationships with the team, and within our commitments and service to those seeking to escape addiction.

Our team in Mexico grew to 10 people this year, praise God! The faithful service of full-time, volunteers, and interns continues to drive the ministry of 1 Page a Day. Through this combined effort, we served in 30 rehabs this year: 15 men’s and 15 women’s rehabs, totalling around 900 inmates hearing gospel truths each week.

Our Ensenada team taken in October, 2023

While our goal is to deliver strong, Bible-based teaching and curriculum, some of our most important work is demonstrating the love of Jesus to the inmates. Broken relationships with loved ones and friends are the stories of their lives. With this in mind, the 1PAD team shows up every week with a smile and incredible servant-heart attitude. They are there, ready to teach and interact with the inmates, ready to look them in the eyes and talk to them in a personal way. The non-verbal message to the inmates is this: “You are valuable to us, and you are valuable to Jesus too.”

Our Vision for 2024 (and onwards) are summed into 3 goals:

  • Build new teaching teams to reach more rehabs
  • Expand evangelism ministry
  • Work with local Ensenada churches to build partnerships with rehabs

As we continue to lean into God’s work in Ensenada, here are ways you can partner with us:

Prayer:

  • For inmates to find freedom from addiction and freedom from sin to Christ
  • For teachers to have strength and wisdom while working in often harsh environments
  • For administrative staff for wisdom as we grow as a ministry, recruit, and train new teachers

Serve:

  • Get hands-on by joining a visit to Ensenada, joining the 1PAD team to visit rehabs
  • Assist the Nebraska-based teams through your unique skills and giftings

Give:

  • Thanks to God for His provision and safety through this year
  • Financially to support the continued mission of 1 Page a Day

It costs $250 per month for us to serve in a rehab. This includes financial support for our teachers and staff, (as well as their transportation to and from the rehabs,) and support for curriculum and Bibles for the inmates.

We currently need an additional $3,000 dollars per month to operate at full capacity within our 30 rehabs.

Thank you for your generosity as you shared your prayers and your wealth with 1PAD in 2023. We’re so blessed to be serving in this capacity and excited to see what God has in store for 2024!

19 REHABS, 4 DAYS

Jeff and Susan Lamb along with Brian and Chris McPike spent a week in Ensenada in May. We were accompanied by our interpreter, Karell.

We worked alongside our local 1 Page a Day ministry team to visit 19 rehabilitation centers in just 4 days. There is a set schedule each week so the rehabs know what time we will be there. We are given a 1-to-2-hour time frame at each place. The rehabs are locked down facilities; typically passing through three sets of locked doors before arriving at the meeting area. Those inmates that have no “infractions” are allowed to attend our service. It’s a mixed group of 15 to 35 people at each place; some are eager to participate, some come because it’s a better option than staying in the bunkroom, and some are angry and don’t want to be there. No one is forced to attend, but God has the power to plant seeds in the hardest soil and the toughest hearts.

Our time with the inmates includes worship music, conversation, prayer, and a focused time of teaching. The curriculum is a blend of evangelism and training on how to have a personal relationship with Christ and live a Christ-centered life. This is good news to most inmates. They are very confused about who Christ is and what He wants for them. The traditional culture blended with their backgrounds of family dysfunction and addiction has distorted their understanding of the Truth.

It is the truth that can finally set them free, John 8:32.

Welcome to 1 Page A Day

Welcome to 1 Page A Day! God has led us to begin a new ministry that has grown from our long term partnerships in Ensenada, Mexico.

“Faith comes from hearing and hearing by the Word of Christ.”

Romans 10:17 – NASB

WHAT IS 1 PAGE A DAY?

Jeff talks about how 1 Page A Day Began

ENHANCING FAITH IN ENSENADA

Reading just “1 page a day” of the Word of Christ will reveal God’s truth and enhance the process of producing faith in the heart.

There are rehab centers on every corner in Ensenada, Mexico. The residents are called inmates. It would be a mistake to picture an American rehabilitation center. The environment is a building with concrete walls and floors, rows of bunk beds in tight quarters in a locked-down facility surrounded by a barb wire fence. The inmates come from drug and alcohol addictions, criminal and violent behavior and broken families. In most cases, this is the last stop before a Mexican prison. Most feel trapped in the lifestyle and don’t know how to escape. These men and women, aged 12 – 65, are mostly a forgotten people. They will stay in the rehab for 3- 6 months, then return to the world they knew before. How many will turn their life around?

Jeff Lamb’s personal testimony of God’s redemption has much in common with the rehab center inmates. Several years ago, God began leading Jeff into a ministry of evangelism in prisons and rehab centers, both locally and in Mexico. God blessed Jeff with the ability to connect with inmates – they want to hear the truth and they want a new life. The evangelism was effective – hundreds have accepted Christ. However, it became obvious that more was needed. These new believers, from vastly different backgrounds, needed to be discipled and learn the basics of the Christian life.

We started this ministry in Fall 2020 with nine rehab centers. By the time the first course was complete, God brought an additional 11 rehabs. God was moving much faster than we had ever expected. Within 6 months of beginning, we are reaching 800 people per week with discipleship training. There are 15 more rehabs on the waiting list, but we don’t yet have the resources to accommodate them. Two 11-week courses have been completed and the results are WOW. God is at work, leading the way and it’s our job to follow Him.

MARIA'S STORY

Maria, one of the Rehab Center directors, became interested in the material that was being taught to the inmates. She started attending and God began to do work in her. She accepted Christ as her Savior and soon began attending a local church and bringing some of the inmates with her.
